True Romania Tours on Tripadvisor

Two couples who previously traveled with us wrote their comprehensive Romania tours reviews on their blogs: Nancy and Paul from US and John & Doreen from Canada.

In brief here is what John & Doreen have to say: “He had tailor-made a ten day tour of the Maramures and Bucovina area. The tour would include highlight visits to many UNESCO wooden churches, a steam train ride into the picturesque Vaser Valley, the painted monasteries of Bucovina plus excellent accommodations. Many very special opportunities arose through the guides’s slick planning, one a traditional wedding and another a sheep milk measurement traditional event. Again thanks for a fantastic time and it will most certainly be one of our all time outstanding tour adventures. Bar none! It did feel like family and a strong bond in such a brief time frame.  Wow!”

Reviews for our Genealogy Tours of Romania

Jennifer: “Book this tour immediately! Daniel, our tour guide, went above and beyond in all ways possible. He provided transportation, translation, research, historical background, appointment setting at the town hall, and even knocked on doors of residents. Ultimately, I was able to find birth records of my grandmother and her sisters, an address for where they lived, and family tree information dating back to 1800. Daniel was eager to participate in the search and when I was ready to end the tour, he found a jackpot of information held by the local self-appointed town historian, who then invited us into his home to share information and homemade palinca! Thank you, Daniel, for making the most of my trip. It was meaningful and life transforming.

Carol, Gary, Alyssa and Lauren from Texas, USA, parents and 2 daughters: “We knew we weren’t able to do a typical guided tour of Romania because my husband’s mother had been born near Sibiu and we planned to try and contact family as well as see the country. The travel agent’s expertise made our trip go off without a hitch! He made suggestions I would not have known about and we were able to have a wonderful family trip without stress over the small details.”

Reviews True Romania Tour - Diana and her mother, USA

Diana from California, USA: “I decided to take a tour where my mother is from and we very fortunately contacted this tour company. My mother is 83 and left 72 years ago and had just faint memories of where she grew up. Our tour guide, who we didn’t even know at the time, was able to find my mom’s exact house which is now in Ukraine. He drove us through Romania and I must add he has a wonderful, warm personality. He was so in tune with our trip desires. I hope one day to see him again because it was such a special moment in our life!

Reviews for our Photo Tours of Romania

Patrick from Hawaii: “This tour company coordinated the most amazing travel experience for my girlfriend and I. We did a 4 day cycling tour, a 3 day photography workshop and a visit to the Danube Delta and stayed with a local fisherman. It was an incredible, culturally enriching experience and we both said it was probably our favorite trip we had ever been on! I can recommend True Romania Tours extremely highly for anyone that would like an authentic experience, wonderful people and come away with photos and memories for a lifetime! Thanks again so much for everything!”

Leah: “As part of photography group I had no prior experience or understanding of Romania. At the end of our trip I knew a great deal. Daniel is an amazing ambassador for his country and an exceptional tour guide. We went from top to bottom and when things got cancelled Daniel found us something just as amazing to photograph. His passion for Romanian I hope is found in our photos!”

Reviews True Romania Tours - Gianni

Gianni from Thailand: “I took part in a photography tour Daniel organized in rural Romania. Excellent knowledge of local history and culture! We visited off-the-beaten path places with practically no tourists around. Daniel certainly knows some of the best view points in the country, and he tailored the tour since we were a group of photographers seeking for some good landscape views, as well as people photography. One more thing to add: Daniel is a very responsible tour guide. He never interfere the privacy and comfort of the locals. Always spoke to them with a great respect and interest, so we felt we’re not intruding into anyone’s personal life. Highly recommended if you want to see real Romania!”

Reviews for our Cultural Tours of Romania

Svetlana from Australia: “They organized a custom tour for our group of 4 friends, and it was fantastic. We decided between ourselves what we wanted to see – countryside life, historic buildings, medieval towns, nature reserves – and they came up with a great itinerary to show us the best of Romania. We would have never seen and experienced all the wonderful things we have, has it not been for their local expertise – and true passion for sharing their country. I’m usually not one for taking tours, but the ease or organization (transport makes a big difference), private tour just for our small group, and such a tailored approach was faultless. I’ve been to over 40 countries, and this trip to Romania is one of the best travel experiences I’ve ever had!”

Guided Tour:

Reviews True Romania Tour - Matt and his fatherMatt and his father: “We count ourselves lucky to have toured Romania with Daniel. For each part, he diligently ensured that itineraries matched our interests in an authentic experience of Romanian culture. Tours were well-organized, accommodations well-chosen and interactions with Daniel so educational and enjoyable. With his connections to local people, Daniel gave us an unforgettable experience of monasteries, castles, farmers, artisans, natural places, and a culture that is unique in all the world. In short, Daniel’s tours are authentic and exceptional. We would wholeheartedly recommend his services to anyone travelling in Romania.

Family Tour:

Reviews True Romania Tour - Diana and her familyDiana from Florida, USA: “From the moment I sent the request I was immediately called and we began a back-and-forth conversation about the itinerary. They suggested many wonderful things to do and see. In addition, they helped facilitate what flights I should take and what airports would be best suited to begin/end our trip. Without them I would have been lost. During the trip we had the best chauffer and guide a family could ask for. My two pre-teen kids loved every second of this trip through Brasov, Sigishoara, Alba Iulia, Aninosa, Hateg, Hunedoara and Sibiu. From a very discerning mother/traveler, I cannot recommend True Romania Tours enough. Look no further for your Romanian guide because you have found the best. Multumesc!

Reviews for our Nature and Rural Tours of Romania

Arik: “They organized a weekend tour for me and my friends; the trip included hiking the mountains around the town of Herculane, and boat trip with sightseeing on Danube (the area next to Orsova). The trip was extremely well-prepared and organized, with all details taken care of. I especially enjoyed the diverse experience of active physical leisure coupled with more relaxed boat trip; if the former was memorable for the idyllic villages lost in the mountains, the latter was special for the beauty of Danube coupled with the historical sites (such as the Veteran’s Cave) on its banks. I wholeheartedly recommend their services to all those who look for a unique and diverse experience and complete detachment from their daily routines.”

Self-Drive Tour:

Bernhard & Isabel from Switzerland/France: “We did a fully custom 4 week “tour of Romania”. After an initial contact (Skype) to assess my interests, they made a detailed day-by-day proposal. They are obviously very knowledgeable about Romania and offered not only attractions that we certainly would not have discovered ourselves (like a visit to a sheepfold, a custom boating trip in the Danube delta, an egg-painter artist), but also proposed unique accommodations (e.g. in a castle, on a small farm in Bocovina) and arranged for guides e.g. in Maramures. Both my wife and I are very happy with the tour and feel that we got much more out of our visit than we would have had we made arrangements ourselves or made our own day-by-day plan. Planning in several uncommitted days permitted visiting attractions that were not in the schedule. We strongly recommend this tour company.”
